Ice Honey - Metallica & Lou Reed

What happen to Metallica? This surely can't be the band who released albums like Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All. Hell, Justice is on my short list of best albums of all time. The Black Album was the last solid album they've come up with. Outside a few good songs they've come up with, since the early 90's they've produced nothing but crap.

Metallica is one of those bands who can produce some epic stuff if they just quit taking stupid chances. There's band out there that can pull off trying crazy stuff; take Primus, Tom Waits, Tool, and even The Flaming Lips, for example. Metallica obviously isn't one of those bands.

In this video you can tell, well other than Lars -he is bit of a nut after all, which makes him a great drummer-, the guys really don't have their hearts into it and you can hear it in their performance. Espcially Kirk (lead guitarist) and Robert (basist). Metallica is still one of those bands I keep watching in hopes they're able to find their groove again. I feel the same about the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They need to step away from whatever pop-rock bollocks they've moved into and get back to their old-school funk rock. The direction they're moving, they're going to end up sounding like Coldplay, or worse, Nickelback.

I was deep in a turkey coma when this was on but apparently it happened. How Nickelback playing the halftime show in the Motor City could ever sound like a good idea to anyone is beyond me. Then again, Nickelback playing anywhere, anytime is paramount to a war crime; it's something that should never happen. I never say this to anyone but Nickelback, go back to Canada!

I Wish I Was Gay - Jessica Lowndes

 

I'm anything but an expert on the subject, but as I understand it, homosexuality isn't a choice. And, at the same time, Björk once stated that, "I think everyone’s bisexual to some degree or another; it’s just a question of whether or not you choose to recognize it and embrace it." It's very easy to take such a simple concept of sexual preference and make it confusing; we're good at things like that as a species and this video doesn't help.

Personally, if I were gay I would find this video a little offensive. I know it's far more of a shot at men, but in the very least the 1990's lesbian stereotype doesn't develop her pissant point any.

If There Ever Was A Time - Third Eye Blind

Here's proof that the Occupy movement is in real trouble. People have been comparing the protesters to the anti-war protesters of the late-60's, early-70's. That may be less asinine than the comparison to the freedom fighters. But still, there's one large difference: the music for/by this movement is complete shite. Third Eye Blind is no Edwin Starr, no matter how much pot one has been smoking in a rape tent.
